About Us

When House of Prayer was established as a spiritual refuge for the tired, hungry, and brokenhearted, it became clear to Pastor Gonzalez that God's purpose for the church was to continue to serve San Luis Obispo. In addition to the worship schedule, our church began to meet other needs of our congregation, such as housing assistance, food distribution, and job placement assistance.

As the congregation grew in size, so did the need for services and assistance. The needs were defined and soon exceeded our capabilities at our present site, so we prayed to God for guidance. The House of Prayer soon embraced the vision God had for us which was to build a church for His flock - a church that would open its doors to everyone in San Luis Obispo County with a need, and to provide a helping hand for all who came seeking the word of God.

House of Prayer is currently developing a financial strategy and raising funds to complete the vision to renovate an old church that was purchased in Paso Robles to make a home for our congregation. The renovations will help us improve our capabilities to offer much needed services such as: childcare, ESL classes, culinary and hospitality training, financial literacy workshops, health and wellness programs, and after school and summer enrichment programs/activities for youth.
